Yesterday saw the return to competitive action of the Sevenoaks U13 girls team, when they travelled to Dartfordians RFC for the latest round of the South East Regional Qualifiers.
Sevenoaks were unbeaten in all competitions to date and their numbers were bolstered by the return (from a nasty leg break last February) of Aoife O'Donnell.
In their first match they met the hosts Dartfordians who had only established their team at the start of the season. Sevenoaks were rusty from a lack of competitive rugby and took a while to get into their stride. When they did however some superb teamwork both at the breakdown and in open play saw them run in nine tries against Dartford without reply. Scorers : Anna Jones 2, Catherine Davies 4, Tori Sellors 1, Maddie Roff 1 and special mention to Aoife who scored in her first competitive return.
Game 2 saw Oaks face Eton Manor a well drilled outfit who had run them close in earlier rounds Oaks narrowly taking honours by a score of 1 try to 0. This time Oaks were prepared and coming together as a team took advantage of space and speed of their backs to run in 4 unanswered tries by half time. Special mention to Hannah Walton by far the youngest member of the squad but who scored a superb individual try running from halfway and beating a number of tackles. In the second half Eton made a number of substitutions which had an instant impact to bring the score to 4-1 but Oaks stuck with their game plan tackling hard and running in 2 further scores leaving the final result 6- 3 to Oaks.
Scorers: Millie Rabbitt 1, Catherine Davies 1, Maddie Roff 1, Hannah Walton 1, Tori Sellors 2.
