This was our first home match in the Kent League and against our arch rivals Canterbury. We last met Canterbury in the U16 Kent Cup Final last season and we came away victorious that time so Canterbury were looking for a tough game and to limit our time on the ball.
As it turned out it was a typically spicy physical game, but Sevenoaks dominated possession and territory throughout the first half. Poor execution and decision making in the Canterbury 22 went that we had little to show for out efforts; that was until Declan released the backline, moving the ball through the hands to set up a well taken try for Henry Marshall, using his prolific pace to score in the left hand corner, 7-0 at the break but should have been so much more.
The second half started much the same , but with Sevenoaks playing with the slope, we again dominated possession and territory. This time set piece and pressure from the forward pack opened holes and saw tries from Adam Petry and Barnie Skinner ease Sevenoaks well ahead. The pressure continued and Canterbury tired. Nick Betts at 9 saw a gap at the back of a scrum in the Canterbury 22 and went for it, a fine score to complete a comfortable scoreline 28-0.
Well done boys, train hard, cement the pattern play and get ready for Darts away on 17 October.
