Well we didn't expect that!
A strong and dominant performance from the U17s in their first fixture of the season and against a weakened Blackheath side at Rectory Field. We were still missing a few players from our Kent Cup winning side, but were very happy to welcome some new faces playing up from the U16s and Will Kettle - making his debut as a new U17. Blackheath too had turned to their U16s to make up a team but Sevenoaks dominated possession and territory from the start.
The first try came early and from a 'pattern move' straight off the training field, with Sam F charging over the line from outside centre. The tries kept coming in the first half to effectively decide the result before the break. In the second half a spirited and determined Blackheath started to frustrate Sevenoaks, by retaining possession and winning territory. Midway through the half a breakaway try from Dec at flyhalf kiced Oaks back into life and the try of the match has to go to Jack the Moose, having a well earned Prop break on the left wing when he took the final pass out wide and out 'sprinted' the Blackheath backline to go over in the corner.
A great start to the League campaign, a great team spirit already evident and now Canterbury next week.
