We are delighted to announce that Sevenoaks RFC has been awarded a substantial grant to help pay for pitch improvements on each of our pitches.
Working closely with our landlords, Sevenoaks Town Council (STC), the Football Foundation and the RFU, the Club was one of more than 90 clubs given the opportunity to bid for financial support to upgrade the playing surfaces at the Paddock and was delighted to learn a few days ago that we had been successful.
A total of £54,000 will be made available over the next six years, from a combination of the Football Foundation and the Town Council, to enable annual top-dressing of three of the pitches. Work on the Training Pitch will be funded from the regular STC maintenance budget. The programme of work is expected to begin in July (subject to the weather) and will be completed in plenty time for the start of the 2026/27 season.
Project lead and Club Secretary, Nick Pearce, commented: “We have worked very closely with the Town Council team to secure the grant and to agree the scope and timing of the work. Their commitment to improving our pitches is very welcome and hopefully we will start to see visible evidence very soon.”
All of the work undertaken will be in addition to the regular pitch maintenance schedule undertaken by the Council, who have already reseeded much of the site. Once that seed has germinated and become robust grass, then top-dressing will be able to be carried out.
