Our intrepid Hon Sec Nick Pearce is set for a Himalayas trek for charity. We caught up with Nick to learn more about the charity, his motivation and what he hopes to take away from his arduous yet highly rewarding endeavour.
As Nick explains in the video below, the hills around Kemsing do not quite emulate the thin air when you’re 10,000 feet+ up the Himalayas, but he’s raring to go.
Nick is trekking in aid of the Oscar Foundation, whose mission is to create a world which enables underprivileged girls and boys living in the slums in India to become role models within their communities. They use the power of football (and more recently cricket too!) to teach the importance of education and all Oscar children must attend school. Education helps transform disadvantaged communities and provides young people with the tools they need to fight poverty for future generations.
If you can, please support Oscar’s work by sponsoring Nick on his trek through the Himalayas, up to 13,000 feet above sea-level, where the terrain, the weather and significantly thinner air will combine for a truly physical challenge.
