Having read through and absorbed yet another Covid update from the RFU, we can now change our policy regarding isolation of groups where a member has had a positive Covid Test, or shown symptoms of same.
To quote from the RFU guidance:
“Currently, in the case where a positive test is a player, providing all rugby activities that the player participated in were within RFU Return to Community Rugby and Stage D guidelines, there is no requirement for other players to self-isolate.”
I must admit to being a little surprised by this, but as has been stated previously, we will follow RFU Guidelines, no more, no less.
That being the case for anyone who actually tests positive, then the same will also apply for anyone displaying the symptoms, listed below.
In summary then, there will no longer be any need for groups where an individual has either tested positive or displayed symptoms to withdraw from training for two weeks. The requirement to self isolate is restricted to the affected player themselves, or any family member living in the same household.
This policy can be adopted with immediate effect, until/unless a subsequent RFU direction supersedes it.
Potential indicators of COVID-19 infection:
1. A high temperature
2. A new continuous cough
3. Short of breath
4. A sore throat
5. Loss of or change in normal sense of taste or smell
6. Feeling generally unwell
7. Persistent tiredness
8. Been in close contact with /travel from a high risk region /
living with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in
the previous 2 weeks.
