Clubhouse Preparations

Preparations are well underway in the clubhouse as we look ahead to the start of the new season.

A huge thank you to Donna and Nick, who have put in a fantastic effort this week to ensure our floors are in top-notch condition. Between them, they’ve cleaned and varnished the clubhouse’s floors, and the results speak for themselves - the floors look absolutely amazing!

We would also like to give a special shoutout to the Monday Morning Club, whose continued hard work behind the scenes keeps the clubhouse maintained and ready for use by members - thank you!

We can’t wait for you all to see the newly varnished floors at the Lions viewing live in the clubhouse tomorrow! See you there!

Overall purpose: We are looking for Clubhouse Staff who wish to become a key part of the Clubhouse team

Availability: Must be able to work on weekends

Responsibilities: We are looking for someone who can work in a fast paced, customer focused environment carrying out both kitchen and bar duties.

Experience & Skills: We are looking for helpful, friendly and enthusiastic individuals who are always willing to learn. This role is customer focused so we would be looking for someone with a positive attitude and a friendly approach.

Pay: Competitive rates of pay are available.

Exciting News: Adam Bowman Extends His Contract at Sevenoaks RFC

We are excited to announce that Adam Bowman will be continuing in his role as Director of Rugby (DOR) and Commercial Director, at Sevenoaks Rugby Football Club. 

This decision marks a significant milestone in Adam's coaching journey with the club, which has spanned over nearly two decades. 

Adam's Journey at SRFC:

Adam's coaching association with the club dates back to 2007, when he started coaching the academy and later took on the role as Academy Head Coach. He then made the progression to Assistant Coach working with the Senior Men's Squad, prior to him stepping up into the role of Senior Men's Head Coach. 

Under Adam's leadership the Senior Men's Squad has seen tremendous progress, involving an impressive three promotions at 1st XV level, including the club's historic ascent into the National Leagues.

In 2020, Adam took on the additional responsibility of Director of Rugby, a role which oversees all rugby operations at the club - from our mini and youth sections to the senior men's and women's squads. Furthermore, in 2022, Adam began making substantial strides in growing the club's commercial portfolio in the role of Commercial Director. 

Reflecting on his extension, Adam has expressed his excitement and commitment to the club's continued growth: 

"I am delighted to be extending my role at the club I love. My focus will remain on continuing to grow provisions for our girls, boys, women's and men's teams and ensuring we provide an environment where talent can thrive across the board. I look forward to the opportunities ahead to work with everyone at SRFC and continue our progress both on and off the field, and within the wider community"

SRFC's co-chairs Fitzy and Tetley have shared: "We are delighted to have agreed a new contract with Adam, who is such an important leader of our rugby and commercial offerings at the club, taking us into our centenary year and beyond."

Kick-Off BBQ: A Fantastic Start to the Season for Our Senior Men's Squad

Last night, we hosted a kick-off BBQ meeting, at the club, for our Senior Men’s Squad.

It was great to see so many familiar faces returning for another season, along with a mix of new joiners and those who have returned from University.

It was a fantastic atmosphere at the club where we discussed the upcoming season and of course enjoyed some delicious food!

Looking ahead, we are excited to start our on-field training this Wednesday. Stay tuned for more updates on our pre-season.

County Championship Final 2025 - Congratulations Sam Begbie!🏅

Congratulations to Sam Begbie who represented Kent at Saturday’s Bill Beaumont County Championship Division 1 Final hosted at Twickenham.

It was a hard fought game which ended with Kent securing the victory in a 39-32 point win over Yorkshire, making it the 3rd consecutive year that Kent have lifted the trophy. Sam came off the bench in the second half and had a positive impact on the game.

Senior Women's Tour 2025🏉🪿💪

Last weekend, the senior women’s squad headed to Harpenden 7s for their end-of-season-tour… and what a way to round off the season!

The summer tour to Harpenden 7s was packed with laughter, banter, and unforgettable memories. While we are definitely not a 7s team, last weekend was never just about the rugby — it was about bonding, having fun, and making memories together as a squad.

We would like to say huge thank you to Kelly, Emma, Lib, and Clare for pulling it all together — absolute legends!

Now it’s eyes on the 25/26 season as we prep the squad for our two league campaigns. The Goose Tour was a massive success — here’s to building on it and going even bigger next year!

New Zealand Ambassadors XV - Congratulations Ethan Jones!

We would like to share our congratulations with Ethan Jones, who was selected to represent the New Zealand Ambassadors XV in their match against the Czech Republic national team on Wednesday evening in Prague.

The game was held at a very hot and sunny RC Tatra Smichov, where a great crowd and lively atmosphere made the day even more special. The match itself was an entertaining contest, with both sides playing some great rugby. The NZ Ambassadors came away with a 18-33 point victory. Ethan played the full 80 minutes and put in a great performance, which saw him awarded with Player of the Day!

It truly was a very special and fantastic occasion, which was also enjoyed by former Mighty Oak, Ian Burmeister who had the honour of captaining the NZ Ambassadors side. Congratulations Ian!

SRFC are vey proud of Ethan and Ian’s achievement and look forward to having Ethan with us for another season of National League Rugby!

Celebrating Our Valued Volunteers - Congratulations Glenn, Grant & Greg

We are excited to share that three of our dedicated volunteers, Glenn Waltham, Grant Scandling, and Greg Gorrill, have each been presented with a Valued Volunteer Award as part of the RFU and Honda Volunteer Recognition Programme.

The Honda Volunteer awards look to celebrate people that volunteer across rugby clubs who go above and beyond to create positive experiences within their clubs. Glenn, Grant and Greg truly reflect what it means to volunteer at a community rugby club, and we are thrilled to see their efforts acknowledged in this way.

We would like to share some information about what they do for our club:

Glenn Waltham (1XV 4th Official):

• Glenn shows up to every single National League home game without fail. He makes sure all the team sheets are printed, the match card is filled out correctly, and completes GMS post game. He also ensures all substitutions throughout the game are managed correctly.

• Prior to his time as 4th Official, Glenn used to run the line for the first team!

Grant Scandling (1XV Women’s Head Coach)

• Grant has been instrumental in the growth of the Women’s side at Sevenoaks. His commitment and determination played a huge part in the introduction of our Women’s 2XV. He is a trusted coach and offers support and guidance to everyone involved.

• Grant also acts as a referee, linesman, and assists Glenn in the 4th Official role at the Men’s 1XV games. His dedication to these roles makes sure junior and senior fixtures proceed smoothly across the club.

• In addition to the above Grant helps lead the ‘Rugby Project’ which has raised plenty of funds for The Wooden Spoon Charity.

Greg Gorrill (Communications, PR & Media Manager)

• Greg sits on the committee and runs the social media team at the club… even though he lives 60 miles away! Greg has always been a big part of the club. Previous to his current role he used to coach for the U6’s all the way through to the U15’s.

• Every week without fail Greg shares valuable club information with members. Whether that be via the weekly newsletter or on our social media, Greg keeps everyone informed of the goings on! It is great to have Greg managing the constant flow of information coming in from 5 senior teams, 20+ junior teams, and all the events and lunches!

Moonlight Walkers Shine Bright for Hospice in the Weald!

Last Saturday, Hospice in the Weald hosted their annual Moonlight Walk, which started and finished at the Sevenoaks RFC Clubhouse. 

Over £60,000 was raised to support the vital work of the hospice thanks to the hundreds of participants who took on the 4-mile, 8-mile, or 13 mile walks through the beautiful surroundings of Knole Park and Sevenoaks. It was great to have performances from The Rock Choir and light performers throughout the event which went towards creating an amazing atmosphere.

It was great to see friends and family coming together to remember loved ones. A huge congratulations to everyone who took part, and to Hospice in the Weald for hosting such a successful event! 

We can't wait to do it all again next year!
