It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Richard Barber, known by most at the Club as ‘Reggie’ (writes his dear friend Rob Swallow). He played regularly between the mid 70s all the way through to the mid 80s for the 1st XV, initially as a free-scoring winger and then became an unstoppable try-scoring flanker when close to the try line (and, pre-empting the modern game, when occupying his old wing position).
He was incredibly proud that all of his five sons, Alex, Will, Jonny, Dan and Harry also played for Oaks.
Reggie was a passionate supporter of the Club and was at most games, home and away. He was a keen golfer and played with the Acorns Golf Society regularly.
Our deepest condolences to Susi and the family from all at Oaks. Reggie will be much missed.
