Despite many games that weekend being cancelled for waterlogged grounds, the match took place at the excellent Simon Langton School 4G rugby pitch. The wonderful hosts made us feel very welcome and gave us time to warm up and settle into playing on such a great surface.

Despite the wind blowing a gale straight down the pitch all morning, it didn’t prevent Sevenoaks starting briskly. Within minutes the Tigers had scored two quick tries with Francombe slotting the conversions.

CantMed Baabaas we’re a big side, with some strong individuals, but struggled to technically keep up with a well drilled Sevenoaks. Excellent tacking prevented CantMed ever getting any momentum and Sevenoaks continually found ways to break down their attacks and subsequently break through their defence.  Francombe used the wind well and constantly pinned the CantMeds Baabaas in the 22.

The halftime switch around gave the our boys a new challenge, playing into the strong wind. Francombe adjusted well and marshalled the team with short and well directed attacks.

A further 3 tries were scored  in the 2nd half with all of them being converted by different kickers. In total there was seven different try scorers and three different kickers. Fantastic depth in the Sevenoaks squad.

The final score 52-5 did not flatter the superb Sevenoaks side, who played very well on such an alien surface.

Sevenoaks now go through as group winners. Well done boys, we’re proud of you!
