The Sevenoaks Tigers (U14B) made an impressive winning start to the U14 Kent Cup. An away match at the talented Dartfordians was always going to be tricky given the wet and breezy conditions. The following boys represented our club:

Blackmore, Francombe, Head, Hewitt, Holden, Lenaghan, Malan, Onuha, Rumsey, Stratton, Sykes, Andrews, Featherstone, Hansen, Hedger, Killick, McLean, Raymond, Stevens, Thomas, F, Thomas, L

As the kick-off loomed, the torrential rain abated, and this gave the talented Sevenoaks team the perfect conditions for their mobile and robust pack. Great set-pieces encouraged the team to launch a wave of attacks. Quickly scoring, which gave the boys confidence. Excellent tackling after that ruined the opponents' attacks, and their heads dropped... By half time, the Sevenoaks team had grown in confidence and resulted in three tries (Hanson, Raymond, L Thomas) and one conversion (L Thomas). The forwards were dominating.

Following the new RFU rules, whereby each substitute gets 1/2 match, saw 7 changes. These substitutions proved a catalyst for stronger back play and the continued pressure took its toll on a flagging Dartfordians team. With the Sevenoaks forwards continuing to dominate, Sevenoaks scored 4 further unanswered tries. (Lenaghan, Raymond, F Thomas, Andrews) and one conversion (Lenaghan).

The final winning score was 39-0 to Sevenoaks.

This was a fabulous first match of the season, delightful to watch and a great start to 2019/2020 season.
