On this grey day at Medway RFC, Sevenoaks A team attended the last competitive fixture of the season; the Kent Cup Finals Day. The following boys represented our A team:

The first team our boys played to defend their cup was a strong Tunbridge Wells side. With Tunbridge Wells being one of our closest rivals; our boys started with real purpose, dominating from the kick and running in an early try. The stage was set and our boys overran TW with speed, power and guile. This dominating performance saw our boys run in 40 points with ease and at times it felt our boys could score at will.

Our second and final team was against our hosts Medway RFC and this saw a repeat of last year’s Kent cup final. Medway had also punished Tunbridge Wells by 40 points and were coming into this encounter with their tails up and with the home advantage. Medway were not prepared for the onslaught that was about to come their way. Our boys magnificently marshalled the game, beating Medway by the same scoreline as they beat Tunbridge Wells, 8-1. This was a bruising and physical encounter with Medway but the boys let their rugby do the talking in the adversity of the Medway players. The maturity shown on the pitch by our boys was simply fantastic and was a culmination of all the hard work the boys put into the season paid off.

The boys put into practice everything we have worked on in training and made the right decisions at the right time as well as being brutally physical and taking their chances clinically. This was all achieved despite losing a large number of players to holidays and injuries. It was brilliant to see players stepping up and contributing so much, highlighting how hugely fortunate we are to have such depth of talent in this year group.

Well done to all the boys they all have everything and are a credit to the club and to their parents.
