We had two squads at Aylesford Festival on Sunday 6 November, the last gig in a very suxxesful Autumn tour of tournaments across Kent and beyond.

The Golds and the Blues squads were raring to go. Unfortunately for the Golds on their side of the Tournament only the hosts pitched up and two teams scratched. Thanks to the determination of both sets of Oaks and Aylesford players and coaches to have a good run out regardless and make the best of the situation, we introduced a training match format with plenty of breaks in between to discuss game play and development. Oaks led the scoreboard but rugby was without doubt the winner.

The Blues opened with gusto against Thanet and Edenbridge, with convincing wins resulting from strong continuity and go forward. Aylesford were tougher opponents and a close game, pretty much mirrored the final. We spent most of the game in the Bulls half and put lots of pressure on them but combination of committed defence and strong rucking kept the scoreline to 1-0 to Oaks.

Wins against Gravesend and Canterbury set up the Final versus Aylesford and again a 1-0 win, following a decent effort by tired boys on both sides. Structure was wanting though in the end a great day was had by all, the weather held and a big thanks to Aylesford for hosting another great event.
