Sevenoaks Rugby Under 11s took to a whole new form of competitive rugby on Sunday 4 October. Having spent five years practising drop kicks and spirals, finally the laws for U11s permitted kicking the ball from hand. Fortunately handling skills remained at the forefront as 40 or so players took to the fields of Kent and Surrey across Foxbury, Medway and Guildfordians Festivals.

At Foxbury the lads won the Cup for the fifth year running. They won five games on the bounce to set up a tense and scratchy final with the hosts, Sevenoaks ultimately coming out on top by the narrowest of margins, beating Old Elthamians 1-0.

The team at Medway faced stern opposition in the form of last season's Kent Cup winners Canterbury and Kent Cup finalists Blackheath. Some rusty handling saw them through to a 1-0 victory over Blackheath and then a 3-4 defeat to Canterbury, having come back from 3-0 down at half-time. The boys hit their stride in a 6-0 win over Gravesend to set up a Bowl Final, where they beat Aylesford Bulls 4-1.

The team at Guildfordians also faced tough opposition, losing their first two games in hard fought matches with London Irish and Rosslyn Park. They then showed great character to win their final game with a 2-1 victory over Pullborough.
