On a cold sunny day our U14’s Tigers (B) went to Chobham in Surrey to play a friendly match. The following boys representing the team:

Thomas (F), Satrettin, Andrews, Hedger, Hewitt, Blackmore, Francombe, Keenor, Lay, Holden, Head, Chaboissier, Parker, Davis O’Malley, Curtis, Sykes, Malan, D’Allesio

We arrived at Chobham RFC with a combined B and development squad, with only 5 recognised forwards. Having to draft in some backs team players into the forwards turned this team into more of a tour squad. The stand-in players were magnificent throughout the game.

Our boys started well but were immediately outgunned within 10 minutes of play. Our hosts having slightly misjudged our squad and noting the lack of forwards, balanced their own team to make it a fairer contest by removing four of their A team players.

Our boys dug deep and began to get on the score sheet by working as a team and improvising with our make-shift forwards pack.

The match ended in a loss to Sevenoaks, but valuable game time was afforded to many players and it was excellent experience for all that played. Well done to all that made the trip.

Chobham RFC were excellent hosts and we wish them well for the rest of the season and look forward to playing them again soon.
