When we were U10s...

A great day out under brand new rules

On Sunday 5 October 2014 five squads from Sevenoaks Under 10s visited competitions at Guildfordians, Canterbury, Medway and Foxbury. All the players did incredibly well adapting to new technical rule developments featuring the introduction of scrums, rucks and mauls.

The highlight of the day was never in question: a fundraising effort for Pink Week that saw more than £200 raised thanks to the brilliant baking efforts of parents, matched only by the generosity of the travelling faithful. The icing on the (cup) cake was the outstanding running rugby and robust tackling shown by all teams under clear blue skies.

At Foxbury, Sevenoaks won the Cup. The Oaks made it to the Final by winning all their group games, against a very plucky Bromley, a strong Old Alleynians, then Beckenham and Dartfordians. The Final against a big Old Colfs team was a very tight match, before Sevenoaks edged home 1-0.

At Guildfordians, the Lions hit their stride early in the A festival with a convincing 5-1 win against the hosts. Three narrow losses followed against some top Surrey clubs. They were tight games that could have gone either way, against Rosslyn Park (1-2), Wimbledon (0-1) and Camberley (1-2). In the B festival the Tigers won three of their four groups games, making it through to the Plate final, which they won on the basis of first try scored in a 2-2 draw with Farnborough.
