Adam Bowman | Head Coach

Adam Bowman was appointed as Head Coach of Sevenoaks RFC Seniors at the beginning of the 2016/17 season.  That season saw the 1st XV finish a credible 7th place in the league, having been promoted to the league from the previous season.  Since his appointment, Bowman has always maintained his desire to create a ‘One Squad’ ethos, a philosophy that has been validated with the 2nd XV finishing 2nd in their league in the past two seasons.

A former player in Oaks Junior section, Bowman has represented Sevenoaks Seniors, St Mary’s University and Ealing Trailfinders at prop.  His success as a coach became evident from a young age when he took over Oaks Academy, leading his sides to three Under 17 National Finals, giving him a reputation as one of the most respected youth coaches in the country.

His progression to the Senior coaching set-up took place during the 2015/16 season, when Bowman assisted Danny Vaughan, as the duo led Oaks to promotion from London South 2 in a play-off fixture against London Cornish.

With Senior Squad numbers now well in excess of 70 and regular training numbers of 40, the respect that Bowman commands amongst players and supporters is there for all to see.

Paul Dawson | Defence & Backs Coach

Paul joined Oaks at the start of the 2018/19 pre-season and has already made a significantly positive impact with the Senior Squad and Academy, leading on Oaks backline play, defence coordination and breakdown work.  Having spent the majority of his time at Tonbridge Juddians, representing their 1st team in the old London 2 and making appearances for the same Club in Nat 3, Paul began his coaching career in 2011, becoming one of the lead defensive coaches for the Academy, with whom he won the National Colts Cup in 2015 and then the RFU Under 17 National Cup in 2017, as well as multiple Kent Cups.

Paul brings a real depth of experience to the coaching team, having coached Tonbridge Juddians as they gained promotion to National 2 as well as overseeing their 2nd XV.  His experience in Junior rugby continues, with his full time job now working as a member of the Judd School games staff, where he acts as one of the professional rugby coaches during the winter and coaching track and field athletics during the summer term.

Jack Barker | Backs Coach

Jack Barker joined Sevenoaks RFC ahead of the 2017/18 as an accomplished fly-half.  His season was cruelly cut short after he suffered a serious knee injury, only 60 minutes into his second match for the Club at home to Maidstone RFC.

Growing up in Tunbridge Wells, he played for the Skinners School before making his senior rugby debut with Crowborough RFC.  He studied Geography at Durham University, where he also represented the 1st XV in both the 15s and 7s format of the game.

Although a big loss on the field last season, Barker contributed significantly  in the coaching department as he joined Adam Bowman and his management team on the training paddock, passing on his expertise to a young back line, with players such as James Fotheringham and Charlie Corrigan benefiting hugely from his experience.

After working  hard to regain fitness over the closed season, Oaks will hope that Barker can once again get back to contributing on the match day field as well as the training paddock this season.

Mark Reay | Match Day Manager

Having moved to the South East of England over thirteen years ago, the Norths loss is certainly Sevenoaks RFC gain, with Mark having contributed significantly to the Club initially on the playing side and then through passing on his vast experience via coaching.

Mark had an accomplished playing career before joining Oaks, representing Scotland from Under 15 to Under 18 and also playing for Edinburgh and Northumberland.  After playing for Berwick and Falkirk, Mark moved to Oaks, becoming a mainstay of the 1st XV, plying his trade predominantly in the centres, but proving adept at a number of positions across the back line.  He was central to the team, under Ron Standen and George Roffey’s stewardship, that gained promotion to London 1.

His coaching career began with the Club Academy team, before joining the Senior coaching set up three seasons ago, coaching the backs alongside Matt Bates.  Having stepped away from the full time coaching commitments at the end of last season, Mark will provide his support and wealth of knowledge on 1st XV match days this season.  Not content with his Saturday rugby commitments, Mark is Head of Physical Education at Hazelwood School and also coached the Oaks Under 9s on a Sunday – a true One Club man!

Harry Holder | Physio

Harry Holder joined Sevenoaks RFC three years ago, when he worked alongside Jess Rugg during Adam Bowman’s first season in charge.  A chartered physiotherapist, Holder graduated from Coventry University in 2015, and currently works at the Horder Centre, having previously been at the Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone NHS Trust.

His professional and thorough manner has meant Holder has become a popular member of the Oaks medical department with both players and coaching staff.
