The Sevenoaks Rugby FC Under 9s acquitted themselves well in Cranbrook RFC Mini’s Development Festival on 23rd October 2016.

The U9s is the first season of contact tackling, progressing from tag rugby in the U8s.

Another big difference this year is that nobody is keeping scores, the focus now being on player development.

Had we still been scoring – which we weren’t, honest – the Sevenoaks U8s would have won one, drawn one and lost three matches.  All games were close, with some excellent attacking play and strong tackles from the boys.  Cranbrook, Tunbridge Wells, Sidcup, Cannterbury and Westcome Park all gave the Sevenoaks team some good competition.

The Sevenoaks team was made up of Arthur Trussler, Coby Smith, Daniel Scandling, Francis Webb, Gurvan Ollivier de Saint Aignan, Jamie Robinson, Jamie Williams, Joshua Clare, Nicholas Sumner and Tait Anderson.

A good time was had by all and given the way the boys played, the future for Sevenoaks rugby looks bright.
