We had two squads on the road on Sunday, the Golds
winning the Cup at Southend Festival and the Stormers winning the
Plate at Old Colfeians Development Festival.

The Golds opened their account in convincing fashion on the Essex
riviera, securing the ball at the breakdown and moving it wide quickly
to win their first match versus the hosts 4-1. The win set the tone
and the Golds built on exceptional form to win their next three
matches, and with them the Cup, versus Maldon (3-0), Rochford (4-0)
and Westcliffe (6-0) without conceding a single try.

The Stormers faced an imposing Blackheath in their first match and
battled to a well-earned 2-1 victory. In between two further wins in
the group over Old Alleynians 3-1 and Gravesend 5-0, Oaks came up
against a well organised Tunbridge Wells team and lapses in tenacity
and concentration saw the Stormers go down 4-2.

With each of TW, Oaks and Blackheath losing one match on even points
at the top of the group table, Sevenoaks were third on the basis of
fewer tries scored. This all set up a Plate Final versus a solid
Dartfordians that Oaks won 3-2 to secure the Plate trophy.

A small home contingent demonstrated the 'one club' spirit by working
on handling and backs moves before doing some tackling demonstrations
for their team mates in the Under 9s.
